We're Looking for 100 Good Wishes

To welcome and celebrate a new life, a tradition exists in northern China, to make a Bai Jia Bei or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. Friends and family contribute squares of cloth along with their wish for the baby. The quilt is said to contain the energy, good fortune and loving wishes from everyone who contributed a piece of fabric.

To contribute to our baby girl's quilt, choose a machine washable, 100% cotton fabric, wash, cut and press a 7x7 inch square. Include your wish (a song, poem, quote, etc..) with a sample of the fabric attached. Be creative. We will place the wishes in a scrapbook for our girly so she will know just how much she was loved and thought of and that she was in our hearts long before she was in our home. With the sample fabric on the wish we'll be able to match up the quilt square with the wish once the quilt is completed.

We also have squares and wishes to trade for anyone else who needs them. Please email me at jm_nicurn@yahoo.com for my address.

Thank you in advance. The photo above is an example of 7x7 inch squares and wishes.

So SORRY I haven't gotten your squares out! I guess you're just going to have to drive up to get them ;)

Is there a deadline to send them down? Can I have until May?

Email me!

Michael and Jill,
You should receive the squares next week. Glad you had a fun trip, and glad to hear as though things could be moving along.
Thanks for the photos!
