Another Day Closer to Home

Today has been an OK day. Thank you for all of your prayers. I think they might be getting through. Maya and her Daddy played for a while outside at one of the pools at the White Swan. This is the smaller of the two pools. The other is beautiful and has a cave and a waterfall but no carpet. It was in the high 70s today and we actually saw some sun and pale blue sky through the smog.
Maya will let her Dad play with her, kiss her, tickle her etc. but will still not let him hold her. She is so roudy and is in constant motion. Now that I'm finally feeling well enough to eat, I can hardly do it because I'm always wooling this silly monkey. She will sit in a highchair or her stroller but not for long. She does much better in the stroller as long as she is in motion.

We had Maya's medical exam for her visa today. Needless to say, she didn't appreciate it much.

Notice if you will she is staring at me saying, "please mom, help me." We don't get much eye contact so I guess we'll take it however we can get it.

When Maya cries her little bottom eye lashes get into her eyes. She almost always has wet looking eyes because her eyelashes are in there.

Just another cute shot. This is a Carter's 9mo outfit. It fits great.

Tomorrow is the orphanage visit. We have reluctantly decided to not go visit. We are so afraid that any headway that we have made with Maya accepting/bonding with us might be sent down the tubes by her going "home". We are having our friends, the Lazars, take pictures for us of her finding location. We got the disposable camera that we sent in Maya's care packge back. We had it developed today. They had taken all of the pictures. It's just great to get this camera back as well as all of the other things we got back.

P.S. Mike, if your following along, we miss Fisher so much. Could you send us an email (jm_nicurn@yahoo.com) or just comment to this post and let us know how he is doing? We know he is fine but we miss his ears and his black hair all over the place. Give him some extra lovin from us today!

We didn't go to the orphanage either for the same reasons. We have promised ourselves that when Lexie is older and understands, that we will take her back to visit and see where she is from and where she was found. The families that did go said it was neat to see but it was a very rough day-about 12 hours long.
Maybe we can all go back and visit together!!
Hope you are feeling better!! A couple nights I just ate rice from the deli outside the White Swan and that seemed to help. Love the pics of Mike and Maya by the pool-it is about 20 degrees here so we are envious of short sleeves!! We are thinking of all of you-Lexie says to tell Maya hi and she hopes to meet her some day!

It is so good to see you with your little girl! She really is beautiful, those eyes just make you want to hug and kiss her all day. Your posts are so full of details and such great pics that it's like were all with you. Can't wait to see her in person. Love to you all and continued prayers.

It can be said that anything worth having in this life is never easy, but don't lose faith. You guys have given this little girl a chance of a lifetime, as she has you, and the rewards will be unmeasurable. We pray that each day will be a step forward and that the days until you come home pass quickly. Stay well.

Love & prayers,
Amy

Jill, Mike & Maya, I've said this before, you make a beautiful family. I just wish I could see her in person, planning any trips to NJ anytime in the future?! I've just ready Chip & Amy's posting, and I just have to say "Amen", this is sooo true!

Chip & Amy, God Bless You! I doubt you remember me, but I used to be on L&D night shift a few years ago and used to visit Amy on M/B and Jill in NICU! I'm so glad you have just the right things to say!

Kisses to all from Jersey!

Wow...I'm very envious of the weather. Mike, hang in there. As we talked about before you left, it is not uncommom for a child to attach/bond with one parent more than the other in the beginning. I am sure Maya will be "Daddy's little girl" before you know it.

Once she knows that baba will give in to her every whim she will turn around in a second!! Keep up the good work.

When I saw them by a pool outside all I could think was how quick I'd be hitting the water!! (Not that 70 seems that warm enough but it's better then 30-40)

Hope you guys continue to do better everyday and are safely home in the embrace of the WV hills soon enough!!

BIG HUGS

Alot of people will say how great and wonderful having a new baby is...
few say anything about the reality,
it is life changing & exhausting.
Hang in there..it will get better.

We continue to be excited and exhilarated by the photos and dialog. You apparently haven't been able to receive our emails as we haven't gotten yours. Sorry you have had a few "bumps in the road". Don't worry, the "goods" far outweigh the "hards" in raising children. We know - we raised Mike. Our love goes out to the three of you. We are so eager to see you.
Keep the info coming; did you know Chloe had a picture of Maya posted in her class room? We had made some prints of the pictures you have forwarded - to show others.

You all hang in there. You'll be home soon and have the rest of your lives with that precious little girl. She is absolutely adorable. Mike she'll soon get used to you and the male species. And little girls always adore their daddies. Jill I hope you feel better so you can at least enjoy some of the days you have left there. In my thoughts and prayers. Karen E.
